I came home from work to face a huge pile of ironing. I didn`t have time to do it yesterday as I had Roman to look after plus I had an awful headache that lasted all day long. It took me two hours and I was glad to see the back of it all. The only problem being the washing basket is almost full again so when I do the laundry tomorrow it be more of the same..sigh.
On the bright side, Jim and I are going to his sister`s in Birchington, Kent for a long weekend. We leave Friday morning and won`t be home until Monday afternoon. We`re really looking forward to seeing her and her hubby as we always have a great time with them. I know the weather`s not great but the break will do us good.
I was watching the birds on the feeders this morning and was amazed to see a large green woodpecker feeding there. I`ve not seen one in the garden before but I hope he comes back again. Have I told you about our tame robin that we feed at work? Well anyway, we feed this youngster and his brother separately or its claws and feathers at dawn. Just lately the food has attracted dunnocks and chaffinches too. This morning I looked outside and I saw a little jenny wren feeing there. We have an ancient wisteria that grows along a wall of the old cottage in the grounds of the garden centre. Wrens nest there every year and the one I saw must be one of the young born this year. Our `home grown` birds are so tame that they come within touching distance and woe betide if you don`t feed then as soon as you get to work. The larger robin hops up and down chirping until his food is there. Once or twice he has flown right at me so I get the hint...lol!

ReplyDeleteSandra, that snowglobe is adorable! Did Roman see it? I bet he just loves it. It sounds like you all had a wonderful weekend. We have snow here now. Yuck. I don't like the cold at all. But otherwise it would be damp and dreary here also.
ReplyDeleteLOL...I do not like ironing. Actually, I don't like housework because it never seems like it will ever get caught up or stay caught up. Glad you are feeling better. xx
Roman looks so handsome in his snow globe. It is snowing here. Seems that the washing never gets caught up. I hope you and Jim have a happy time at your SIL's. XO

Love the snow globe tag. You know my grandson loves them too and when I went to the store they had some that were like rubbery ones you can't break I'd never seen them before. He loved them. He said he was gonna tell Santa to bring him one of those.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all got to spend time together over the weekend getting your shopping done. I'm so behind. Rainy days sounds like a good day for cards to get done.
Hope you and hubby have a great time on the getaway this weekend. I know you'll enjoy just being away for a couple of days. Change in scenery does wonders sometimes.
Loved the stories on the birds. We use to have lots of birds when I grew flower gardens, but I haven't done that in a long time since a baby took over my life almost 4yrs ago. I always had a cardinal following me everywhere. He wanted to be feed too and just wanted to see what I was up to.
Hope you have a great week. Since the weather is bad today hope you find something fun to do indoors. Sounds like a good reading day or movie day to me.
Take care, Chrissie
Sandra
ReplyDeleteThe snow globe with
Roman inside was so cleaver. It was a great Pic of Roman, too. Yes, it seems that ironing never ends around my house too. Especially now that Trenton is living with us this year. Sorry for your poor weather, but it sounds like you have a nice weekend coming up. Enjoy!
Sam
