Weekend Catch Up

It`s a damp and miserable day and I really don`t like it. Last week it was bitterly cold but frosty and brighter, give me that any day instead of this.

Yesterday Jim and I went to the garden centre Christmas dinner. We had a nice time but the food could have been a little better and the portions a bit bigger. Never mind we had a good night out and that was the most important thing.

At the moment I`m acting as nursemaid to my son and heir Danny who has a bad case of man-flu. I don`t want him to go back to his flat as the heating isn`t very good and I don`t want him to get really ill. To be fair he does have a very bad cough and a fever and its not like him not to eat but as we all know men are pretty helpless when viruses strike...lol! Oh dear, I shouldn`t laugh, I`ll probably get it next. :o( We had a bit of a falling out the other evening and I`m pleased to say it`s resolved for now but I think it`s going to happen again before long as the issue isn`t going to go away....sigh

I`ve been getting lots of Christmas cards from my JLand friends and many of them from overseas so thank you all. As I said before I`ve wrapped everything and am as ready for Christmas as I can be, not bad with still two weeks to go. Knowing me I`ve forgotten something really important...lol! The only present I have still to buy is Danny`s. I can`t buy clothes like I`ve said before or they will go back to the shop after Christmas and I have no idea what else I can get him. If I ask him he said he doesn`t know what he wants ( so helpful!) and I know he wants something to open so I can`t give him money....Oh dear, I need some inspiration.
I`ve just had a call from my brother about our Aunties funeral. He`s attending the service with me and bringing my nephew too. I must admit I`m glad to have some moral support because I haven`t seen my cousin for over 35 yrs and another of my cousins since I was 13, though I`m certain I won`t have any trouble recognising them. Tomorrow I will organise the flowers.
Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment for a filling and I`m really not looking forward to it. I would happily cancel but the nagging pain at the back of my mouth prevents me. The dentist says it just a small hole but they always say that, he probably just trying to make me feel better! Best get it over and done with before Christmas so I can eat what I like without fear of pain. Anyway my friends, I hope you`ve all had a lovely weekend. take care and I be visiting your journals soon. :o)

  3. Hi Sandra, Sorry about your son being ill. I know what you mean by men being ill! I've got two in the house as well! I'm still not ready for Christmas, little time and very few ideas. Young men (older boys?) usually like electronic gadgets. What about those ipods, iphones, wii etc? All the best. Ciao. Antonella

  6. Sandra, give him money wrapped nicely in a box. At least them, he'll have a package to open. My son has asked for new bed pillows, so I'm giving him money for those....I would hate it if someone bought me pillows. They have so be just so, or I can't use them. I'm going to attempt to get really motivated and finish my wrapping this week. Thanks again for the Christmas card...Linda in WA

  8. Thank you for your compliment on my photo/art, and for reading my Blogger/journal. 2 Saturdays ago I received a call waking me from an old friend that had moved away - his brother had died. I went to the grave site near my home area only an hour away. I was glad I was able to go as I had known my friend since 1974. He was my age, just 56 years old. I hope Danny is better soon from the flu bug. I checked the 'flu map' and there is little activity here. I may get a flu shot again this year, though last year's was said to be the wrong type. It is going from very warm to cold with ice accumulation predicted tonight/tomorrow and high wind. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas. mark

  10. I hope Danny feels better soon. I'm having the same gift-giving problem with my husband. I did finally find something that he wanted, and found it at half off, otherwise it was too expensive! Score! Sorry to hear of your loss. How clever you are to have all the presents wrapped and ready to go! ~~Kath~~

  11. Sorry your Danny has the flu. LOL at men when they are sick. They really are such babies. Hope you stay well. I had my flu shot but still seem to catch stuff. Ugh to the dentist. The only thing I'm dreading more is drinking this crap today for my colonoscopy tomorrow. I gag on stuff and this is 4 liters worth of awfulness. Take care...xxx

  13. What a pity the Christmas dinner was not as good as it should have been, I hate that. I remember it happening at one works do I went to many years ago. Men are so hard to buy for generally so I hope you get something sorted for Danny and also that he feels better soon. Hope you are over your falling out. Christmas will be over before we know it, I cannot believe where the time goes these days.

  14. I hope your son is feeling better, it's no fun being ill or taking care of a sick man. Also hoping the dentist wasn't so painful - I think sometimes we worry and make it worse then it really is. Once we get it done, it's oh that wasn't so bad. Especially once you don't feel any pain.

One year I got my son a wallet and put some gift cards in it, he said that was his favorite. At first he looked at the wallet and was like, I don't need a wallet - not that he said it out loud! LOL Then his experession when he saw the gift cards was priceless.

    Wishing you the best!

    Monica
