Early morning and the cars are crawling along at snail pace
This afternoon, the back garden covered with a white woolly blanket
You couldn`t even see the road outside my house this morning
The snow began falling more heavily just after I came home from work.
The snow began falling more heavily just after I came home from work.
What a day! Snow fell heavily overnight and I awoke to a blanket of the fluffy white stuff making the world look very bright and very beautiful. Being a lover of snow and Winter I was a little apprehensive of the drive to work. I knew the roads would be treacherous and being the South of England I`ve had little experience driving in snowy conditions. I used a long handed broom to clear the snow from my car and clear the driveway, finishing the job by throwing dishwasher salt everywhere. I actually didn`t have any problems driving apart from a couple of corners where I felt like a contestant from Dancing On Ice. Apart from that and not being able to go any faster than 10 mph the journey was fine as everyone on the road seemed to be behaving themselves for a change. The roads were much clearer on the way home and those drivers who usually behave badly did, especially the one who followed me nearly all the way home. When I stopped at a blind junction he tooted me for not pulling straight out into the main road. If he had been where I was he would have seen the car coming toward us but instead decided to tell me to hurry up...I didn`t , I just took my time and drove even slower once around the corner. The look on his face was a picture...lol!
The other day I mentioned the Green Woodpecker in my neighbours garden. Well since then I`ve seen two more and after me saying that I`ve not seen one around these parts before...unless of course its the same one following me around!
I called Kerry this afternoon and after a brief chat I hear a voice say "Is that Nana? Let me talk to Nana!" No prizes for guessing who that was! Roman told me that he was going outside with Mummy to throw snowballs and build a snowman. He told me that said snowman was going to wear a hat and scarf, have a carrot for a nose. He then told me that he will make sure Mummy doesn`t fall over in the snow and hurt herself, bless him. Sometimes he says the sweetest things.
Oh yes, the spots he had are another type of excema. Kerry has been using several creams and using a potion in the bath and now she says his skin is almost back to normal now. She just has to make sure he has lashings of the cream on every day especially in the Winter when it can at its worst. I remember when Daniel was little his excema was much worse in Winter but once the sun started to shine it cleared up quite quickly again.
It had stopped snowing for a while but the sky is looking very angry and I don`t think it`ll be long before we have another lot fall on us. Hopefully it won`t be too bad and that the local authorities will grit the roads unlike last night. Also I hope Jim might be home from work earlier than usual because most of the flights from Heathrow are cancelled and he`s just sitting around waiting until its time to come home again. He must be really bored.
Anyway, must go. There are journals to read and an evening meal to prepare. Take care, stay safe and keep warm. :o)
Same here, Sandra. Although, after seeing the weather forecast for last night and today, I was expecting much worse. Hope it will get better towards the end of the week. I only like snow in the mountains or when we are all on holidays! Keep nice and warm. Ciao. Antonella
ReplyDeleteSame here Sandra, we have both posted snow pictures and I shall post more tomorrow of the boys' snowman. Glad you stayed safe. Here it is thawing fast and I would be surprised if we get anymore as the temperature is above freezing, I have never seen such a quick thaw. Trouble is, if it freezes now it will be sheer ice. Glad that Roman's spots have been sorted out and are being treated. Big hugs.
ReplyDeleteI dont drive but I think you are brave ,driving in this uggh I just had a phone call from Maurice telling me he would be late due to the conditions ,How lovely of Roman to be looking after his Mummy like that ,I hope Kerry takes a picture of his snowman ..keep warm and safe ...love Jan xx
ReplyDeleteThat snow is so pretty. We very seldom get any here in our sate of AL in this area anyway. That was cute of Roman going to watch out for his mum. Glad that the rash is almost gone. I am sure some pictures will be made of Roman and his snowman. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures. Hugs, Helen
ReplyDeleteYes it's been bad here too Sandra I am in the pennine range,so the iwnd has been bleak with it too.Brrrr.I popped a couple of pictures on my sidebar today at 5am this morning.More to come tonight too.The grandchildren have been out sledging and making snowmen too. They loved it.I made a banana cake to keep warm LOL.Love little Roman and what he says.So happy to read you stood your ground with the stupid guy in the car behind you.Grrr.Enjoy your evening.Take Care God Bless Kath xx
ReplyDeleteI think most of the idiotic drivers took the day off today. As you say we dont get enough snow to get enough experiance of driving in it. I used to love it when i did shift work and at 4.30 in the morning you could pick the easiest route through it.
ReplyDeleteAndy
we have had more ice and snow here than is bearable. Glad that you made it out ok in it.....i bet hearing Roman was so cute...he is such a good little man. XO
ReplyDeleteI can remember walking to work in the snow when I lived over there...over 5 miles...LOL..looks so pretty in the pics mind you...
ReplyDeleteIts now Tuesday we had about 4-5" yesterday and believe it or not today it is all gone a quick thaw indeed. I was going to take pictures this morning after we had had the foot of snow that was forecast last night but it did not arrive so no pictures of the snow. Drive carefully Sandra Love Joan.
ReplyDeleteI thought we were to have terrible snow last night but all that happened was our snow got rained off! Though I like to see the snow and watch it falling, I do winge and whine about it, same as others. Secretly though, I do feel a bit let down when it goes.
ReplyDeletelove, Angie, xx
I see you have plenty of snow this winter. I have watched on TV about London not having a single snowplow, and Heathrow being shut down. Some people seem to be enjoying sliding down hills on everything including inflatable beds I saw. It is down to below 20F here today. I need to finally get to the stores today to get milk and groceries. I am starting to beleive it is my hip now that is causing me pain. I don't want to beleive it because it means going through more MRI's and seeing a surgeon. At least I think I know what is causing my current problem's. Thank you for visiting my journal/blog and I will return soon to read more. mark
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra! That Roman is so cute. I'm glad he's so protective of his Mummy. The snow is beautiful! I can't imagine driving in it though. Not me, no way! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.

ReplyDeleteI found you! Yes! I'm so glad to see your blog here. It's beautiful! We just had a little snow over here in East Anglia, much to my husband's chagrin. Never mind, there's still this month!
ReplyDeleteNever be rushed by an idiot in a car, certainly not in conditions of snow and ice.
