Jake`s Progress

I thought it was time that I updated you on Jake`s progress. he`s actually doing really well and doesn`t look ill at all. Last weekend he was a bit under the weather, refusing to eat all his food and bringing all that he did. On the Monday morning I was planning to take him to the vet but all of a sudden he was back to normal with no sign of illness whatsoever. I think in a perverse way if he looked ill and acted ill then I could accept that his time is short. I keep having to convince myself of the words of the lab report, @prognosis guarded to poor" and the chest x-ray that I saw with my own eyes, the tiny white dots in his lungs that look far from sinister but of course are just that.

HOWEVER.....Jake is with us and doing well and if I have anything to do with it he`ll still be here in a years time. While Jim was out with him the other day an elderly lady stopped to stroke Jake. he told me that she just kept saying how beautiful he was and what a lovely dog, Jim didn`t have the heart to tell her he isn`t well. How could anyone?

Everyone here is well, I say that because I haven`t posted for ages about any of them The only downside is that Danny has finally ended his relationship with Salina after 6yrs together. I won`t say anymore about it because it`s a deeply private mnatter between the two of them. At least now a line can be drawn and Dan can get on with his life. I want my son to be happy more than anything else whatever life throws at him.

Roman and Sophie are really doing well. Roman is in full-time school and loving every minute. He`s usually the first to get there and the last to leave. On Wednesday and Thursday last week he was given two "Teacher`s Helper" awards, the second one with a gold star, he was so proud to get them and so are we. :o)

Sophie is almost 7 mths now and is has been sitting unaided for a while now. She is totally fearless and nothing seems to bother her. Roman can be unintentionally a bit rough with her, as older siblings are at times but all she does is laugh in his face. Kerry says she`s much tougher than Roman ever was and that she`ll soon be wearing the trousers...lol! She even grabs hold of him sometimes and he calls to his mum that "Sophie is hurting me" lol!

Sitting in my living room.

Ready for his first day at school.

The garden centre is gearing up for Christmas and our display is all in place. Mind you, Christmas isn`t that far away now. I`ve done quite a bit of my Christmas shopping already because I can`t stand the crowds and I worry that I won`t get everything in time. I love shopping for the grandchildren because its such funny choosing toys that I know they`ll like. I know Sophie is only a baby but she loves her toys, especially those that make loud noises...poor Kerry and Slava...lol! And of course there are the clothes to buy. There has always been more choice of girls clothes so I am going to be in my element. I loved buying for Kerry when she was a baby but now there is even more to choose from, where will I start...? :o)

Jim has bought me a really good pair of secateurs for Christmas. He asked what I wanted and even though he thought it a bit odd that was what I wanted. With the amount of gardening I do I need good tools. I never thought I`d get excited about secateurs, perfume, clothes maybe...lol!

Anyway my friends, I`ll say goodbye for now. take care and have a good weekend.

Love and Hugs

Sandra xxxx

  1. I am so glad that Jake is doing ok for right now. I hope he continues good for a long time to come. That is a very good picture of him and of the children also.
I hope someone comes along soon who will be just right for Danny. Sophia is looking more like Roman now. They both are growing so fast.

  3. Thanks for the update on Jake and of course Roman and Sophie. Bob's youngest grand children are Lance who was 5 last April and Marin Rose who was 2 the end of June. Believe me that little girl can handle her big brother with no problem. Sophie will do the same. We were there to see them right after he started school in September. I was asking him about his teacher and when I asked what her name was, he sort of hesitated and Marin Rose piped up "It's Miss Robinson and she's nice." (she talks better than Lance sometimes) So she can not only take care of herself but she knows the business of the whole family~such a girl! Sorry about Danny, we so want our kids to be happy and it's hard for a mom to stand by and see them sad. I was so used to that with my son, that now when he's engaged I'm always on the ready, incase the "shoe drops again." Yes Christmas is in the stores. I shop all year long so I don't have much left to do. I'll dig everything out soon and see what's needed. Hugs from Linda in very rainy and very windy Washington

  5. So glad that Jake is doing well Sandra and obviously not in pain. Sophie is so like Roman!!! I could not believe it. Well, it certainly has been endless ups and downs with Danny and Salina. I hope it is settled for good now. He needs to get on with his life and find the right person. Hugs xxxxx

  8. I'm glad to hear that Jake is holding up, he sounds a strong boy who will put up a fight. It must be heartbreaking to know how ill he is even though he isn't showing it. I can't belive little Sophie is seven months already! I'm trying not to think of Christmas, I have my trip to Australia to do before then ~ in two weeks time we'll be flying out to Perth.
I hope Jake will continue to be pain free. Lol on your excitement over the secateurs!! Jeannette xxxx

  9. Hi Sandra! Thanks for the update on everyone, specially Jake. Our 16 year old Sally is usually disgustingly healthy but today showed the first real sign of her advanced years. She was limping on her back right leg. It passed off in an hour or so, so maybe she had just lain funny on it. Something to keep an eye on though, I think.

    love, Angie, xx

  10. Sandra, when I saw that you had sent Update on Jake, my heart sank & I couldn't get here fast enough. I was so afraid you were going to tell us he'd taken a bad turn. Thank God he's just had a that little weekend episode. I just don't know I'd bear it, being you. I am SO thrilled he can get out on his walkies. The pics are gorgeous-of Jake & the kids. Sophie is gorgeous & Roman looks like he is getting taller as I type!! I'm sorry about Danny & Salina-but they have to go the way they have to go. I am having a bit of a problem with my daughter in law. She is very very jealous of my son's 1st wife, the mother of Ashley, our oldest granddaughter. I happen to love my ex daughter in law as a person. Anything I say about her sets my DIL's teeth on edge & she thinks I am always taking my ex DIL's side. There are NO sides. My son has full custody of Ashley & his ex pays no child support as she barely is getting by for herself. My son works & his wife has two jobs. They do well enough. Plus the ex lives halway across the country-she is no threat. But I can't say anything nice about her. I kept Ashley this weekend while my son & DIL went out of town & I let Ash call her mother. I am going to be in big trouble. Sorry to go on & on. I could write a book. You talk about Sophie wearing the trousers w/Roman soon. Well you can imagine who is wearing the pants in my son's marriage. LOL (I'm awful I know.). Well, please give Jake some strokes and ear scratches and love from me and hug the babies from me to. My best to all of you. Love n Hugs,Barb

  12. Oh Sandra, I've not been reading any posts recently, too much going on healthwise in my family. I was so sorry to read about poor Jake, it brought back memories of when our poor dog was ill, it's not a very good time for you and Jim. It's good to read about Roman and Sophie, and to see the latest photos, they just grow up so fast!
I'll be thinking of you, ~~~~ Love, Pat

  14. Thank you for visiting and viewing the progress on my home addition. The photo of Jake is great. He looks well and comfortable. The grandchildren's photo's are wonderful with Roman looking excited about going to school for the first time. Sophie is adorable at 7 months old. I have just a few days this week of warm weather and will try to finish painting another completed area of outside panels. Salty just got two dog biscuts to help clean his teeth some. They are getting more build up on them and I asked the Veterinarian's office to send me a card when they have a teeth cleaning discount promotion. He is now between 6 and 7 years old since he was a stray brought to me in Aug. of 2004. I am glad he found a home where he is cared for. mark/salty
